Why endings matter
Most kids' platforms are built to maximise watch time. The business model depends on it. Autoplay rolls, the algorithm chooses what's next, and the session never really shapes itself.
Meevee runs the other way. Sessions are finite by design; more like a children's book than a feed. When the last page comes, the story closes. That's the point.
Curation is the baseline
Filtered isn't the same as chosen. We license classic children's programming and arrange it into coherent sessions: Thomas & Friends, Pingu, Bob the Builder, Fireman Sam, Kipper, Baby Einstein, Monchhichi, Danny Joe's Tree House and more. The collection isn't huge by design. We'd rather you reach for something we've chosen carefully than scroll a wall of options.
What "calm" actually looks like
Calm isn't the absence of action. It's pacing that doesn't deregulate small nervous systems. It's sound design, story structure, and a tone that doesn't shout. Meevee is built around that: slower, warmer, more resolved. Not because we're precious about screens, but because this is what works for toddlers.
Who Meevee is for
Yes, this is still screen time. Children watch screens. That's the reality of modern family life. Meevee is for the moments when you as a parent need a break, when dinner has to happen, or when you're driving to see grandparents. We're not anti-screen. We're the intentional option that works for those moments without the parent-guilt afterwards.
It's also built with multilingual households in mind. Mookee speaks English, Spanish, and Dutch; content is currently in English, with Spanish and Dutch coming soon. As the library grows, your child gets sessions in the languages spoken at home without being pushed around by a feed.
Common questions
Is YouTube Kids safe for toddlers?
YouTube Kids is filtered, but it isn't curated in the way Meevee is. A lot of what children end up watching is shaped by autoplay, recommendations, and what holds attention. Their model is based on watch time and engagement, so design-wise they're optimising to keep kids watching the screen. Meevee is the opposite. We're optimising for completion of finite sessions and conflict-free transitions to off-screen activities.
Does Meevee have ads like YouTube Kids?
No. Ad-free because the experience wouldn't work with ads in it.
Does Meevee have autoplay?
Not in the way you're probably thinking. Episodes play in sequence within the session you've set up, so your child watches a coherent stretch of content rather than a single show with a "next" button. When the session reaches its end, Mookee says goodbye and lets your child know what's next for them. Mookee gets tucked into bed and stays asleep until the next time you decide to set up a new session.
How does screen time end on Meevee?
Every session has a beginning, a middle, and an end, hosted by Mookee, our claymation monkey. When the end arrives, Mookee comes on screen, says a warm goodbye, and guides your child into something off-screen. Then the app closes. To watch again, a grown-up has to reopen it. The ending isn't a setting to switch on. It's the format.
Can I switch from YouTube Kids to Meevee?
Yes. Meevee is available for iOS (iPhone and iPad) and web. Android and TV apps are in development.
What about educational content on YouTube Kids?
There is educational content on YouTube Kids. Plenty of it is genuinely good. The problem isn't that "education doesn't exist" there, it's that YouTube Kids is built as a feed. So even if you start with something you feel good about, what happens next is often shaped by autoplay and recommendations, not by your intent. Educational can slide into louder, faster, weirder, or just more-for-the-sake-of-more. Meevee's approach is simpler: the catalogue is smaller by design, everything is licensed and chosen by humans, and sessions are finite. So "educational" isn't a category you have to keep re-selecting and defending. It's part of a curated set meant to hold up from start to finish.
